How does it work?
How often should I have Sessions?
It isn't like a chiropractor where you have to come back each week, not at all, go with the flow! Listen to your body about if you need help with a physical ailment, emotional or concern that you cannot 'shift' yourself. Perhaps you feel that 3 visits in quick succession are really beneficial to progressing towards your goals. Basically there are a few combinations which need to be in place in order to make lasting changes; such as repetition, reward, positive experience, sensorial stimulation, safe environment, supportive nurturing guidance, processing time, physical habits, etc. Therefore, if you can be mindful from what you learn from sessions, with greater consciousness, changes are often permanent or longer lasting positive shifts may be felt in life circumstances.
Am I going to get emotional?
If you do then you were ready to begin a healing or shift then it is meant to be and it will be worth it. I take being emotional as a humans way of releasing. You are releasing and ready to move forward. If you do or don't get emotional, that doesn't reflect on the benefits you are open to experiencing, you do not have to be in pain to express a shift in your energy or heal past issues. It is normal to be living with conscious and unconscious blocks, to sense obstacles, blockages, sabotaging thought patterns and imbalances which may prevent us from living the life we want to live. You can also learn to shift these blocks by yourself over time with simply tuning in to the natural connections that your intuition will provide. (Something we humans have lost through evolution or largely forgot as we are so distracted by other things.) Some sessions with me may be a bit confronting but if you are to persist with balancing and healing in your life you will feel the energy flow and the ease as time goes by. You may experience physical and or emotional pain and want to address an emotion or behaviour behind it. All human emotions are natural and many are helpful to lead us to seek something, learning, answers, deeper consciousness and natural intuition leading to a healthier, more rewarding and fulfilling life which in turn leads us to that feeling of harmony and deep happiness.
Does it take mine or your chi/energy?
No it doesn't. Firstly the environment is safe. I usually feel more energized after a session. You may be elated after a session or you may be tired and relaxed. I do attempt to have you leave feeling balanced at the end of a session. I do not make the energy, it is natures' universal energy and I am simply a facilitator. I work on a sensorial level where combined with a few techniques including provoking rational thinking opportunities to change behaviours and habits are offered. We may call the unseen sensorial natural energy we experience by many names such as energy, instinct, intuition, a hunch, feeling, insight, sixth sense, Chi, Prana, Ki etc.
I was concerned what to expect.
We will discuss your intent as to what you want to get from the session. This will help me to focus my intent also to help you. I will ask you to breathe deeply and focus on your breath for some time. You are welcome to talk during the session but the intent must be driven by senses rather than thoughts so I may refocus you back to senses. The process of thinking, reasoning and processing can be done later. Drink lots of water after sessions and listen to what your body’s messages. Prepare for a good sleep that night to process new information.
What is Reiki?
The word ‘Reiki’ is of Japanese origins, roughly translated it means "spiritually guided or universal life-force energy." Different religions and cultures call this ‘life-force energy’ by different names, often in Singapore/China it is referred to as Qi (pronounced Chee.) Reiki is a safe and non-invasive treatment which does not conflict with any medications, religions or treatments. Reiki treats holistically, promoting healing of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the individual client. The therapist holds their hands in specific positions over or lightly on the body while the client is fully clothed lying on a massage table, bed or sitting on a chair. Reiki and other similar practices are now more common in hospitals and healing centers. Common effects of energy are heat, vibrations and tingling sensations. These sensations may lead to healing, reduced pain, a greater feeling of peace and relaxation and a feeling of equilibrium. I have found with clients that immediate relief may feel like emotional, mental and physical pain and blockages dissolve, you may feel cleansed or rebalanced, energized or deeply relaxed and tired.
I'm a Christian, is Reiki ok for me?
Reiki is non-religious. To make a conscious decision if Reiki is something you personally wish to try, please check out this website: Reiki for Christians You may also be interested in this page: Evolving Faith A great many theories have come to be as humans with varied intellectual thinking, individual or group intent, imagination and interpretations of the universes’ huge unknown expanses created a variety of religions, cultures and practices. This is why I never presume to work on a religious or spiritual level with a client, as what one individual swears by as the ultimate truth or God according to their experiences may not be the same to another. I keep an objective perspective and do not presume one viewpoint is superior to the other.
How are you using Eco-psychology with Reiki?
Eco-psychology is the study of reconnecting people with nature sensorial energies. Reiki is the japanese word for life-force energy. They simply go hand-in-hand.
Can you do Sessions with children?
Yes, with anyone and even animals! I actually have worked a lot with children in other areas as well as having my own two children. With children I would take into account many other sensitivities and aspects to ensure they are comfortable with me and with their surroundings. Children innately know about being heart-centered and so they usually respond well. It is probably better I do a home-visit to ascertain the matter deeper. Please contact me to discuss further. Also there are some good CDs available which help children with relaxing and sleeping, these are common problems manifested usually from other life experiences that they may be uncomfortable with and often unable to articulate.
Can I do different treatments or take medicines while having Sessions with you?
My sessions are non-invasive and don't conflict with any medications, religions or treatments. I recommend potential clients to go with the flow… choose classes, treatments, massage, meditation, guided relaxation, religion, being in nature or whatever you have an attraction for in your life that stimulates your innate senses. If it feels right to you, harms no-one and no thing, then follow your chosen technique and path with passion! Try a session with me if it feels right to you. Please be aware that if your chosen treatment process produces negative feelings, fear or prolonged pain you may need to reflect if it is right for you. If you experience dis-empowerment, singular thinking or you feel controlled and have lost your individuality through adopting standards, judgements, morals and attitudes that reflect the group; I urge you feel if this is really right for you and consider trying different approaches.
What are reiki symbols?
Why did you choose to do this?
Over the past 30 years I have experienced sessions and classes from many different areas in holistic fields. From group and individual psychotherapy, meditation and relaxation techniques by Doctors and Psychologists while I worked as a an Nurse and Psychiatric Nurse or in other jobs, attending short courses out of interest or being a client myself. These included many holistic and alternative practices such as yoga, meditation, mindfulness, counselling, regression therapy, Reiki, reminiscence therapy, horticulture therapy, hypnotherapy, kinesiology, iridology, acupuncture and acupressure techniques. Currently I am studying Eco-psychology, the study of nature and human interactions. As I ‘sample’ many things, some people have asked me; “What are you searching for?” I am not really ‘searching’ but as nature requires diversity and connections, I too desire to experience diversity, connection to a variety of people and natural opportunities. I am also curious to discover and pursue my own revelations, I love learning and sensing new things, similar to how I gain deep connections by being open to other cultures and communities with traveling and living in other countries. From all these experiences, I take what resonates with me at the time and leave what doesn't, there is always something to be gained or a lesson to be learned. I am mindful and respect that a particular method I tried may not work for me but may work for another person. We have our own journeys. From my personal experiences, the multi-sensory connections come from Natures invisible Energy provides intuitive guidance in the form of colours, sounds, pictures, tactile feelings, etc. I have learned there is always something new Nature can teach and show us, at any given moment as I have been regularly practicing Ecopsychologys' NSTP which has tuned my sensory perceptions. Once it was commonly thought that the world was flat, science changes how the mass population feels about things, including energy work, meditation and the like... Scientifically your brain wave frequency changes and you experience physical, emotional and sensorial effects. Eg. Sound vibrations scientifically change your brain waves. I love working with energy frequencies, the sensorial world and intuition; all gifts of nature. When I work with clients I use basic Reiki hand placements as a guideline. I connect with primal natural senses (of which there are over 50 documented, not just the 5 common senses) from natures energy. Science explains some energy aspects but there is so much unexplainable or unknown to us. From my limited scientific understanding, we know there is a huge universe and we can only identify a very small amount of matter. The energy we can identify in atoms is an electromagnetic energy force between the nucleus and electron cloud. The recently discovered Higgs Boson particle is a natural attraction sub-atomic energy particle that made our universe by attracting other particles together and giving things mass. It appears also that conscious intent impacts on the atoms energy field. We are attracted energetically and all things have this energy. Max Planck, 1918 Nobel Prize winner for his work with atoms, stated; “All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom into vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together... We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.” There is still a great amount of the universe unknown... and many theories around it....
